Since 3 July 1937, sentinels have continuously stood guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns keeping them company through wind, rain, snow and heat. They maintain their vigil day and night to ensure that these heroes who gave everything they had - their lives and their identities in sacrifice to our country - will forever rest with dignity and honor.



This evening, 9 March 2010, we of the Blair County Tea Party gathered to honor our military and their families. Some may ask, “Why 9 March?” to which we would respond, “Our military stands watch 24/7/365, why not 9 March?”



Tonight we are joined by men and women of all ages who have answered the call to serve. We are humbled to share the evening with our Gold Star Families; with Veterans of D-Day, the Battle of the Bulge, Midway and Iwo Jima; Veterans of the Frozen Chosin, Khe Sanh, Hue, Fallujah, Kandahar and the countless other meaningful posts where our military and their families have endured untold sacrifices for Freedom and Liberty.



Honoring our veterans is an opportunity for each of us to reflect upon our responsibility as a citizen. Yes, the survival of Freedom and Liberty relies on a strong and honorable military to protect us from enemies abroad; but Freedom and Liberty are also vulnerable from within and require an educated and engaged public to survive. Those of us who are not on active duty must step up to defend our country on the home front, as our liberties are more likely to be taken by a judge, a legislature or a czar than by a terrorist.



12 September 2009, four buses from the Blair County Tea Party traveled to Washington DC to join 1,000,000 Americans to protest the out of control spending of a federal government that has expanded well beyond its Constitutional authority. This progressive assault on our nation has occurred under the watch of both Republicans and Democrats over the past 100+ years and threatens our future as a free society.



As we disembarked from the buses near the WWII Memorial and began to make our way toward the Capitol, we passed dozens of WWII veterans; and as we stopped to shake their hands and thank them for their service, one gentleman in a wheelchair - but with the sharp eyes and mind of a young GI replied, “Thank you, and now it is your turn.”



It is our turn, our duty, to ensure a constitutional, transparent and fiscally responsible government. If we are to pass Freedom and Liberty on to future generations, if we hope to someday rest with dignity and honor, we must follow the example of those heroes and patriots who surround us this evening…we must answer the call. ObamaCare vote in the House on March 18... Final Senate vote on March 26...



Today, President Obama launched his last-minute campaign-style push to get enough partisan phone calls and faxes flooding Capitol Hill.



Here's what the President said:



"We need to see where people stand. And we need all of you to help us win that vote. So I need you to knock on doors. Talk to your neighbors. Pick up the phone... [W]e need you to make your voices heard all the way in Washington, D.C."



That means President Obama's strategy depends on one thing... Our SILENCE!



Obama knows public opinion is against him (the polls consistently show that a majority of Americans oppose ObamaCare). If a representative sampling of Americans contacted members of Congress, then most phone calls,faxes and emails would OPPOSE ObamaCare and their fast-track timeline would be derailed.



So he is counting on our silence while resorting to campaign-style efforts to rally his troops -- the far left ideologues from his presidential run and groups like MoveOn.



As I shared with you a few days ago, that strategy appears to be working. Here's what a trusted contact on Capitol Hill reported:



"We just left [a member of Congress'] office and while we were waiting, their phones were going crazy demanding... support for health care... Get everyone you can to call or fax or email."



This contact also said the odds of ObamaCare passing have risen dramatically in the past week. And now the targeted House vote is just 10 days away.

I haven't had time to do the research and get any numbers, but here are a few questions for the Senator regarding his bold /sarc/ statement:



1. How long was Sen. Bunning a "hold out" on this piece of legislation vs. the PA State Legislature passing the 2010 budget for the State of PA?



2. Tens of thousands of Pennsylvanians had a time of great uncertainty last week, vs. the how many PA State Workers, including those in the fields of medical and corrections, who had months of uncertainty (and no paychecks) last summer and fall?



3. Where was your outrage at the PA legislature when the budget debacle was on-going? Or were you too busy with your Town Hall Tours and your reelection campaign to be bothered?

I would guess that Lame Stream Media feel that our Founding Fathers had an "inconvenient ideology."

Yep, the lamestream media loves to portray all of us involved in the "Tear Parties" as having a far right ideology (which of course is dangerous and evil) that, in their warped reasoning, undoubtedly breeds extremism. But the self-righteous media class like Olbermann, Mathews, Madow, et al never point out that our "dangerous ideologies" are that of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Samuel Adams and the other extremists who founded freedom in America.

Isn't it curious that The Politico features Pennsylvania's legislative woes and singles out the budget problem without identifying the fact that the Democrat governor has missed the last 7 budget deadlines and uses the "crisis" to push increased deficit spending and increased taxes during the "Great Recession". The author goes on to highlight "the stench of corruption" known as"Bonus-gate", which is the indictments of 12 Pa legislators and two of their aids who received illegally $4 million in bonuses. In 2007but doesn't mention that all 12 are democrat members of the Pennsylvania Legislature ,



Left leaning indeed.

Full disclosure - Politico is a definitely a left leaning blog site. But they do stay on top of the latest happenings in Washington, and around the country. I find it to be an excellent source for "opposition research".

If you like that one, here is another view from MSNBC, it is probably more offensive than the first. It doesn't really focus on the Tea Party until about halfway in so you will have to stay with it for a few minutes.
